my eating habits in nyc - or why i ended up back in utah weighing more than when i left
- amy's bread - good sandwiches and GREAT cupcakes (probably the best i've had in nyc) - have yet to try the bread.
- burgers and cupcakes - yeah, the name says it all
- buttercup bake shop - yummy cupcakes...i need to go back to try the lemon
- cafe lalo - as seen in "you've got mail"...an incredible array of desserts, but i need to go back when i'm not already full
- chow - i recommend the tuna tartar as an appetizer
- ciao bella gelato - the best i've had in new york...and it's a chain!
- cones - yummy, yummy gelato-like ice cream (it's not gelato, but really similar)
- cornelia street cafe - on my street, delicious brunch
- creperie nyc - featured on the food network, this place is incredible. what i've had: summer special (goat cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, basil, and avacado) and just straight up chocolate. (i had to try both sweet and savory...hello!)
- crepes on columbus - very good...lots of chocolate
- crumbs - yummy, funky, ginormous cupcakes
- europa cafe - the pastrami zesto is a lunch favorite...across the street from work and not too pricey
- fig and olive - delicious mediterranean cuisine with multiple locations
- freemans - at the end of freeman alley (delicious artichoke dip and fabulous brunch)
- fusia asian cuisine - good service, good prices, good food; solid choice
- goodburger - voted best burger in nyc, but i wouldn't know because i had italian wedding soup (which was really good)
- gray's papaya - better than "papaya dog", i just need to figure out what i like on my dog
- grom - good (but kind of pricey) gelato
- haru - delicious pre-show (Broadway, that is) sushi - not too expensive, either, considering it's sushi.
- home - delicious nouveau-ish cuisine! i recommend the shrimp cakes and the banana and chocolate chip bread pudding
- il cantinori - delicious italian in my hood (or close enough) and another restaurant week favorite
- isle - yummy thai food - i'm a fan of the lemongrass salad
- ivy bistro - located across from one of my company's buildings...i recommend the chicken, pear, and goat cheese sandwich, but i've been told everything is good
- la focaccia - best salmon i've ever had!
- levain bakery - unbelievably good cookies (dark chocolate peanut butter chip is my favorite)
- luz - a great little spot in brooklyn (a little pricey for what it is, but still pretty enjoyable)
- magnolia bakery (on bleecker) - i'd heard this was overrated, but a "must try" just the same. I was pleasantly surprised! I loved the white cake with chocolate frosting.
- max brenner - chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate...and a delicious spinach and goat cheese omelet
- mr. chow - delicious for restaurant week (but apparently the alcohol is really pricey, although i wouldn't know)
- murray's cheese - a little cheese shop at the end of my street...great variety and i'm going to take a cheese course there, which includes a tasting!
- ninja - experiential dining at it's finest (or cheesiest) and they have good sushi and strawberry lemonade
- noodle bar - i'll go there again, but mainly because it's convenient
- nougatine - a jean-georges restaurant and by far my favorite of the restaurant week visits
- ny hotdog and coffee - yeah...different (but I haven't tried just a plain hotdog there, so don't let me deter you)
- papaya dog (not to be mistaken with gray's papaya) - fine for what it is...but not my favorite
- papillon bistro & bar - good, but pricey
- peanut butter & co. - all things peanut butter...great for a cheaper meal. try the "elvis"
- petite abeille (17th st. location) - loved it! great ambiance, good value, delicious food!
- po - a great italian place on the street where i live (i was pretty impressed with my delicious pesci di giorno (no idea if that's right...but fish of the day is what i mean)
- pommes frites - the most authentic frites i've found...just like the stands in belgium! love this place. (been there 3x as of 7.14.09)
- pret a manger - a british soup/salad/sandwich place now in nyc - i love the chicken, tomato, and mozarella!!! another lunch time fave!
- rare bar and grill - good burgers, delicious truffle fries
- republic - delicious noodle place at union square. i've been here three times already.
- rice n beans - delicious brazilian fare at good (for nyc) prices
- risotteria - delicious risotto! (and it's in my hood)
- rocco's pastry shop - delicious italian bakery with the most amazing cannolis and yummy italian ice
- say cheese: home of the grilled cheese sandwich - delicious cheese and tomato soup...and cheap
- shake shack - good shakes and cheese fries...but i still need to try a burger
- sundaes and cones - best ice cream i've had in nyc thus far (as of 7.14.09)
- the volstead - absolutely amazing...and not super expensive! possibly the best fries i've ever had...and chocolate fondue worth every calorie!
- tom's restaurant (of seinfeld fame) - i only got a malt, because i've heard the food sucks...the malt was good.
- trattoria pesce e pasta - my first meal as a new york resident (for the summer)

I am so jealous that you got to see this, it actually hurts a little... :)
